2081 Reviews Coming In

“2081″, an adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s short story “Harrison Bergeron” for which I wrote the score, has gone on sale at Amazon.com. The reviews from around the web are so far pretty good…

From Amazon.com:

The cinematography was breathtaking and the music beautifully composed.

The music is absolutely an uncredited character in the short.

From FilmsMela:

The mesmerism lies not in the choreography of the dance but in the choreography of the scene as a whole…and it is all tied together by the music.

Perhaps more salient than the imagery, though, is the music. The musical accompaniment to the ballet is so soothing that it provides a comforting backdrop to the pain of the married couple’s life as it plays on the TV in their living room. In the film’s climax, Bergeron removes his handicaps on stage, persuades a ballerina to do the same, and orders the symphony to play. As they do, Bergeron and the ballerina begin dancing in a mesmerizing scene as the ballet audience slowly comes to understand the beauty of freedom, exemplified not only by this rebellious act but by dance itself.

There of course were some other flattering comments, if a bit misinformed:

The Kronos Quartet did a wonderful job scoring this shot (sic) film.

Close enough.

Not bad ;) visually impressive with an excellent soundtrack.
I just wish there was a part 2?

The movie was honestly one of the best film adaptations I’ve ever seen. The changes that were made to the original storyline (few that there were) turned out to be improvements. But what keeps bringing me back is the score. Beautiful. Will it ever be made available for purchase? Please?
